Rochester MN Izaak Walton League Statement

To conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.

Rochester Chapter

The Rochester MN Chapter of the Izaak Walton League is involved in teaching the community about the value of preserving our natural resources. At our Wetland Reserve we provide opportunities for local youth groups to complete community service projects and provide college scholarships and science fair awards to local students. Our historic cabin, with its unique fireplace, is located on Silver Lake and has been part of the community for many years. The Rochester Chapter of the IWLA is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax deductible.

The Rochester MN Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America (IWLA) is more than just a local conservation group — it is a thriving community hub for education, service, and environmental responsibility. Through its dedicated mission, the chapter supports the protection and restoration of natural resources such as soil, water, forests, and wildlife in and around Rochester, Minnesota.

Promoting Environmental Stewardship

At the heart of the Rochester IWLA chapter is a deep commitment to preserving the environment for future generations. By maintaining their Wetland Reserve and other natural areas, the chapter helps protect local ecosystems while offering accessible learning environments for visitors, youth groups, and volunteers.

Youth Engagement and Education

One of the most impactful aspects of the Rochester IWLA’s work is its outreach to young people. Through science fair awards, scholarships, and hands-on service projects, the chapter nurtures the next generation of conservation leaders. Local youth are given the opportunity to engage directly with nature and participate in meaningful community service that connects them with the importance of environmental conservation.

Historic Cabin on Silver Lake

A notable feature of the chapter is its historic cabin located on Silver Lake. With a unique fireplace and rustic charm, the cabin serves as both a symbol of tradition and a gathering space for events, meetings, and environmental education activities. It has stood as a welcoming community landmark for many years.

Supporting a Nonprofit Cause

The Rochester IWLA chapter operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, meaning all donations are tax-deductible. This allows individuals and businesses alike to support local conservation efforts while benefiting from charitable giving incentives.

Whether you're a student, parent, educator, nature lover, or community advocate, the Rochester Chapter of the IWLA offers an inspiring opportunity to get involved. Visit https://www.rochestermnikes.org to learn how you can contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
