IWLA Mission Statement

To conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest,

water and other natural resources of the United States

and other lands; to promote means and opportunities

for the education of the public with respect to such

resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.

The Rochester MN Chapter of the Izaak Walton League is involved in the community is many ways. At our wetland we are providing opportunities for local groups, such as the Boy Scouts, to complete community service projects. We provide college scholarships and science fair awards to local students. Our cabin, with its unique fireplace, is located on Silver Lake and has been part of the community for many years.

Home Energy Forum

If you want to cut your green house gas emissions, lower monthly expenses or free yourself from the power company, there has never been a better time to install photovoltaic (solar panels) systems. State rebates and federal tax incentives make solar power affordable.

We are focusing this years meetings on energy production that the average home owner can have installed. There will be presentations on wind, solar, geothermal and financial incentives.

IKES Wetland

Located on Salem Road a few miles west of the Olmsted County History Center, the Rochester IKES wetland provides an opportunity to see wildlife and native plant species.

Service Projects

The Rochester IKES has been providing service project ideas for Eagle Scouts.

Future of Nature Book Series

The Rochester IKES is helping sponsor RCTC's Future of Nature book series.

Scholarships and Awards

The Rochester IKES has been providing college scholarships to local students entering a conservation field. Awards are given annually to science fair participants.
